Counts Are Down…

Noah went back in for a blood test yesterday to check his counts.  His ANC is now at 300.  At the risk of getting too technical, this is the measurement of how many white blood cells he has to fight off infection.  The normal ANC is between 1,500 and 8,000.  So it’s pretty easy to see that right now is a pretty dangerous time.  If he were to get an infection of some kind right now, his body wouldn’t be able to fight it off.  So we’ve posted a sign on our door letting everyone know that we’re not trying to be rude, but we just can’t have visitors right now.

All that confounded with the fact that I have sleep apnea and have to use a CPAP at night.  How is that relevant?  My machine has a tendency to either agitate or infect my sinuses, no matter how much I clean it out.  So I’m sneezing like a fool and sending my germs all over the house.  I’m disinfecting like crazy when I’m at home.  I don’t want to be the one who gets him sick.

Noah’s privates are getting a little better.  He’s been running around without a diaper on for the past two days.  It’s made for some interesting discoveries around our house.  :)   But it’s okay…poor little guy was hurting pretty bad.  I hope it gets better for him soon…for all of our sakes.

Crystal and Noah go back tomorrow for another blood test.  Hopefully the Neupogen shots help bring up his ANC.  Noah has another injection of Vincristine on Friday.  And that ends the first round of chemo.  We start next week back at Kosair’s on the second round…only 3 more to go until surgery!!!

Other than that, I think we’re just going with the flow.  I’m trying to get caught up on work and homework.  Crystal is praying for a quiet day today.  Dillon is being awesome.  By God’s grace (and your prayers), we’re all doing pretty well…considering.

God Bless,

Doug
